The Winssinger House
The Winssinger House in Saint-Gilles, designed in the “spirit of total art” so dear to the undisputed master of Art Nouveau, unfolds its organic curves, floral accents, decorative stained-glass windows and mosaic floors.
This radical Art Nouveau mansion with its wide white stone façade was designed between 1894 and 1897 by Victor Horta for the family of engineer Camille Winssinger.
The architect integrated a spacious, light-filled staircase and a winter garden before converting it into an investment property in 1927-1929.
In 1946, the new owner, the insurance company Le Lion Belge, had a large 345 m² extension built at the rear of the building to expand its offices.
